MGA Issues Licence Cancellation Notices

The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) has served AMGO iGaming Malta with a Notice of Cancellation concerning License Number MGA/B2C/163/2008, dated 31 October 2023. The MGA determined that AMGO iGaming Malta violated specific regulations related to gaming licence fees and player protection.

The first breach relates to violation of gaming licence fees regulation where AMGO iGaming Malta failed to remit the annual license fee for the period between November 2022 and November 2023. The statement added that the outstanding balance, amounting to €13,915.12, remains unpaid. Other related breaches include failure to pay the compliance contribution fees due to the MGA within the specified timeframe. Additionally, the MGA accused AMGO of not meeting its commitments to players in a timely manner, or that such failure was imminent.

The MGA is now requesting AMGO iGaming Malta Limited to reply within 20 days, explaining why the authorization should not be revoked. The company is also instructed to settle all outstanding dues promptly.

Second licence cancellation and other news

This notice comes shortly after the MGA cancelled the license of Arabmillionaire Limited, which had committed similar offenses. The company’s failure to respond adequately to the MGA’s initial notice led the regulator to officially revoke its authorization.

The MGA has issued a call for applications for the role of Chief Executive Officer, after CEO Carl Brincat announced his departure from the regulatory body. Brincat is set to step down on January 25. Brincat acknowledged that leaving the MGA was a difficult decision. He expressed his enjoyment of the time spent with the Maltese regulator and his continued interest in the Maltese gaming sector.
